natural light only

I have completely given up studio lighting. Not given up "on" studio lighting, but... given it up. Although I admire the use of artificially-lit images from other talented photographers, it simply isn't a look that I am after, as my style continues to evolve. This post contains some of my older indoor natural light images.

It's all about natural light now! No more backdrops, no more lugging huge softboxes into your house with their cords everywhere, no more 5 trips out to my car to bring in all the equipment. Just us, your environment, and *the* light. We're after reality here. The best representation of reality, and backdrops... well, they're out with the studio lights. Without artificial lighting, we're going to seek out depth, light, shadows, a much more natural "look." Without backdrops, we're going to achieve a more custom feel to your portraits. More "you" in the background (or foreground) of your images. Your images will speak clearly to you. No others will be like it. Being on location is wonderful. No two backgrounds are ever the same.

For months now, anything posted here or on my main website has been natural light only. Here are a few OLD ones that I still love. Obviously, anything outside is taken using natural light, but indoors is not always as challenging as you may think. Here are some indoor natural light, backdrop-free from the past several months:

And this adorable guy.... he's 9 months now! I can't believe how fast time goes.
Just thought I'd shed some light (ha!) on why I've made the changes that I've made recently.
Looking forward to all of the upcoming sessions these next few weeks!
